Empire Period Double Barrel Rifled Flintlock Boxlock Carriage Pistol By Berleur Circa 1812

5 and 3/4 inch octagonal microgroove rifled barrels. 40 caliber.

The barrels retain 95% of what appears to be the original Damascus brown. Action engraved with maker’s name in a luxurious reserve. Guillaume Berleur was the brother of Michel and in 1800 he worked at the Manufacture de Versailles under the direction of arguably the greatest gunmaker of all time, Nicholas Noel Boutet.

The figured walnut butt is inlaid with silver wire and the luxurious effect is heightened by a checkered panel adorned with dozens of silver studs mimicking the checkering. Silver thumb piece.

The action is crisp and most unusual as cocking is dependent on the sliding triggerguard safety. All small parts are the original. Overall condition is fine. Ramrod is an excellent well made contemporary replacement. Bores are excellent. 10 and 5/8th inches overall.
