A Desirable English ‘Cromwellian’ “Lobster Tail’ Pot Helmet Circa 1645 With Three Bar Visor.
The classic helmet worn by both Roundheads and Cavaliers alike throughout the English Civil War.
The two piece skull with pronounced medial ridge the exterior rough from the armourer’s hammer deeply struck with a mark. The neck lames in one piece simulating articulated lames. Ear flaps with pierced circular decoration, the leather renewed. Helmet retains much period blackened finish, Weight 3.995 pounds.
This helmet is original of the period and becoming very hard to find in this good state of preservation. A must for the collector of armour as this is an essential type.
