An Attractive And Scarce Pearl Gripped Factory Panel Scene Engraved Early Open Top Large Frame Scoop Cylinder Merwin And Hulbert Revolver Serial Number 5932.

44 caliber. 5 and 1/2 inch barrel. Internal serial number inside grips 3495 matches cylinder number 3495 and barrel number 3495.

The revolver is profusely factory engraved with the unique Merwin punch dot and leaf and scroll designs. The left side of the frame with a panel scene depicting a village and a church. Barrel retains 90%+ original bright nickel finish. Frame finish is mostly gray steel but engraving is still sharp, Cylinder with 50% original nickel and traces of gilding in the scoops.

Pearl grips are good with great fire and no chips. Action is excellent and revolver locks up tight. Bore is good.

Note: The barrel has been reduced from 7 and 1/2 inches to 5 and 1/2 inches sometime during its working life. The front sight has been repositioned and is likely a replacement.

This is a most attractive Western big bore revolver and is far better in the hand. This pistol bespeaks the Old West. Would look great in any collection of later 19th century Western pistols.
