A Very Good Revolutionary War Period Scottish Regimental Baskethilted Backsword.
34 inch blade with two long narrow fullers is a full 1 and 3/8ths inches wide at forte.
The steel hilt of classic Scottish form pierced with traditional hearts and circles. Fine shagreen covered wood grip bound with three strand twisted copper wire. Globose onion pommel. This fine sword is homogenous and has never been dismounted. The blade is in good condition with mostly smooth steel surface and only very minor pitting near the fort.
The hilt with attractive age patination and only very minor pinprick pitting mostly on the bars. Grip is excellent throughout. A very impressive Scottish baskethilt backsword measuring 38 and 3/4 inches overall.
