A Rare And Highly Desirable Mid 19th Century Mexican Silver Hilt And Mounted Sword Circa 1860.

29 and 3/4 inch Bowie style clip point blade. Classic Mexican attachment pinned with silver straps. The blade of flat section with flat spine. Plain silver recurved guard. The hilt of heavy silver with cast in ribs and well cast and chased fierce Mexican eagle. Silver knuckle guard chain missing.

Tooled original leather scabbard with three silver mounts including chape and locket. The blade is patinated, hilt is crisp. The scabbard with expected wear and old repair. Quality Mexican swords of the 19th century are scarce as they were heavily used during the numerous conflicts throughout the period. A very handsome example.
