Meiji Period Japanese Artilleryman's Sword, sometimes referred to as the Model 1886.
Wood handled version, with steel throat and chape on the black leather scabbard. Hilt is tight with the cast steel guard and pommel retaining a majority of their black finish and the wood handle free of cracks.
The 21" blade is mostly bright with no chips. Well marked on both sides of the ricasso. Scabbard is completely intact with sound stitching, the leather showing normal age and no dents to the throat/chape.
