A Beautiful Rare And Desirable U.S. 1860 Civil War Officer’s Saber By P.D. Luneschloss With Frost Etching By The Justly Renowned Tiffany & Co. New York.
The 35 and 1/2 inch blade with long single fuller with Tiffany & Co. New York in a riband on one side and “Warranted to Cut Wrought Iron” on the other. The right side with a magnificent American eagle and shield its beak holding a ribbon “E Pluribus Unam” in a superb 6 inch long frost etched panel. The left side with a brilliant frost etched 6 inch panel with a large U.S. bordered with scrolling foliage.
The condition of the blade is incredible with nearly 100% of its original bright Tiffany polish. Deeply patinated brass D guard with the Civil War officer’s relief anacthusus leaves retaining traces of gilding. Fishskin grip with twisted wire wrap is in fine condition.
This Tiffany treasure is in its correct standard field scabbard made for this lovely saber. The condition of this superlative Tiffany etched blade will astound the most demanding Civil War sword collector.
