Fine Factory Cased Colt Model 1849 5 Shot Pocket Model Percussion Revolver - 1871

4 inch barrel, .31 caliber. New York address. All matching numbers except wedge and loading lever which is normal for the late percussion Colts.

Barrel exhibits 80%+ original bright Colt factory blue. Loading lever with casehardening fading to gray. Wedge with some finish. Cylinder armor numbered ‘101’. Frame with muted but visible color casehardening. Backstrap and triggerguard crisp unpolished brass.

Trigger with 60% original blue. Two frame screw slots distorted. Cylinder with good stagecoach hold-up scene and 65% fading blue. Safety pins are flattened but visible. Walnut grips have 90% original varnish. Backstrap and triggerguard screws have most of their original blue. Bore is fair but action is crisp and cylinder locks up tight.

Case is lined in red velvet faded but all there. Accessories include a very rare Colt’s Patent high polish, tapered leg mold with 65%+ very bright high polish bluing and some knocks. Double side eagle flask with one dent and some gilding remaining on spout.

Altogether a much better than commonly encountered cased 1849 Pocket Model with extremely desirable high polish mold.
