A Fine And Rare Cased Set Of Napoleonic Flintlock Dueling Pistols Converted To Percussion By Fatou Of Paris (1796-1805). Contemporary Of Nicholas Noel Boutet Circa 1804. 8 and 3/4 inch heavily swamped octagonal barrels .50 caliber with microgroove rifling. The barrels with nearly all the period brown and inlaid in gold “A PARIS” with gold band at muzzle. Sighting groove at breech. Front and rear sights.

Single bolted percussion locks signed “FATOU A PARIS” in a reserve. Austere steel mounts. Beautifully molded percussion hammers are secured by engraved screws. Finely figured walnut half stocks finely checkered at the wrist. Steel buttcaps. Set triggers.

These lovely Empire pistols are cased in their original figured walnut case lined with green baize. There are 13 accessories including superb lead dipper with figured wood handle and magnificent casehardened dipper of Boutet quality. Fine polished steel bullet mold. Very fine lanthorn brass mounted powder flask. Barrel shape fruitwood cap box. Fruitwood mallet. Brass powder measure. Turnscrew. Both ramrods present. Mainspring vise.


This great set even retains its original key in the form of a brass Napoleonic eagle. Overall excellent condition and an exceptionally complete set of Empire dueling pistols by a premier maker who worked at 8 Rue St. Denis. Though austere these pistols are best quality and the condition and completeness ensures that the collector of fine duelers will be delighted.
