An Unusual And Attractive French Coffin Cased Engraved And Etched Deluxe Lefaucheux 11 Millimeter Pinfire Revolver For LePage Brothers Circa 1860.
6 inch deeply rifled round barrel octagonal at breech. The top flat deeply etched with floral and beaded borders and reserve etched “FQUE DE LEPAGE FRES (Brothers) A LEGMSON (Le Maison) A PARIS 12 R (Rue) D’ENGHIEN”. Characteristic high Lefaucheux front sight. Engraved with florals at muzzle. Serial number 20675. Frame lightly engraved on barrel flat. Frame engraved “Inv. E. Lefaucheux Brevete SGDG A Paris”. Six shot cylinder. Spurred triggerguard.
Figured shaped walnut grip panels. Fluted steel buttcap with lanyard ring. Bore is excellent showing little or no use. Action is crisp and cylinder indexes perfectly. Loading gate spring allows gate to stay open. Steel surfaces polished overall but crisp.
This fine large Civil War period pinfire is cased in a figured walnut French coffin style casing with spaces for 10 cartridges, lining in red velour with large and extremely elaborate LePage Freres trade label which greatly enhances the desirability of this unique casing.
