An Untouched And Highly Sought After Short Land Pattern (2nd Model) English Flintlock Musket Circa 1760.

Full 42 inch deeply patinated round barrel. 80 caliber with steel fore-sight. Barrel indistinctly engraved “NUNEATON”. Bolted lock with bridled frizzen stamped with a Crown over “GR” and “TOWER” at tail. Full brass regulation furniture with four brass ramrod pipes. Iron ramrod with trumpet tip and worm appears original to this fine musket. Brass buttplate clearly stamped “NUNEATON” (market town in the northern Warwickshire, England).

Molded walnut regulation fullstock with high comb and not cut down as is commonly found on these scarce muskets. Walnut has glowing hand patination with period copper wire repair to left side but generally in remarkably fine condition for one of these. Brass thumb piece engraved with regimental number “35”. This 2nd Model “Bess” is in the same state of originality as it was in 1760 only delightfully untouched, as found and “In the black” as collectors of Kentucky rifles value so highly.

Whether this Brown Bess saw service in America or remained in England is a matter for the proud new owner to research. Suffice it to say if you want a Short Land Pattern musket that has never been cleaned or messed about with your search is over. Just one look at the period pin that replaced the cock screw will give you an idea of just how charming this musket will be in your collection. Do not miss out on this one.
