A Superb And Rare Zischagge With Fluted Skull And Finely Sculpted And Articulated Four Lame Neckguard And One Piece Skull, Eastern European Circa 1630.
A wonderful helmet weighing 5 pounds. 16 flutes adorn the skull, the apexes with cutwork and sides with line engraving. The flutes ending in a point. Dozens of decorative rivets decorate the the lower section of the skull. A relief band separates the flutes from the rim area. The rim is decorated with a raised band and further cutwork.
Large pointed brim with rolled edge and cutwork. The brim scalloped where is meets the skull. Earflaps scalloped ensuite with the rear of the brim and pierced with a wheel with six spokes. Helmet retains its nasal pierced with a double cross and filed crown. The interior with patination but no heavy corrosion. The entire helmet is excellent condition throughout.
