A Good New York Engraved Smith And Wesson Model 1 And 1/2 Second Issue Revolver With Excellent Factory Pearl Grips Circa 1875 Serial #108085.
3 and 1/2 inch barrel. .32 rimfire caliber. One of the last of this popular revolver as Flayderman lists a “total run of 100,750.” Revolver is fully engraved and with owner’s name “JAMES SWANN” (possibly James G. Swann, Massachusetts 1818-1900). Barrel engraved with classic New York scroll in the style of L.D. Nimschke and retains 90% of its bright nickel finish. Engraved cylinder retains 45% of its dulling nickel finish. Finely scroll engraved frame with 90%+ bright nickel finish.
Original pearl grip in excellent condition with none of the usual chips and showing great fire and iridescence. Hammer with nearly 100% nickel. Action is good and bore is fair.
A very handsome period engraved Smith and Wesson with a fascinating owner’s name. Worthy of further research.
