U.S. Indian Wars era Model 1884 Trapdoor Springfield Ramrod Bayonet Rifle.
Made in 1891, 45-70 caliber, 27" barrel, 43 1/2" overall.
An unmessed with Trapdoor showing a chocolate brown patina and even fine pitting throughout. The action is strong and functions properly. The markings on the breech block are weak, all other markings are legible.
The stock is full dimension and has not been sanded. It shows dings/mars typical of Martial arms. The cartouche is clearly visible with the date 1891. The top of the stock and buttplate have military rack markings. The ramrod bayonet is present and locks appropriately. The bore shows darkening but has strong lands and grooves and only minor oxidation.
A nice honest U.S. Service Rifle.
