A U.S. Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Cadet Rifle, Second Type, made circa 1888-1893.
45-70 caliber. Plumbed out blue on the 29 1/2" barrel. Retains most of the case colors on breechblock. Lock with some blue remaining. Bore is excellent and bright. Action is crisp.
Wood shows some typical mars with some cracks and wood losses around the top of the buttplate and losses around the ramrod channel. Interestingly, it has a C marked 1879 Carbine sight that appears to have been there forever. Apparently using up parts at the end. Lacks ramrod.
A good example of the last of the Trapdoors.
