A Good Continental Homogenous Swept Hilt Rapier Circa 1600.
The stout 43 inch blade with short single fuller. The swept hilt of classic rapier form with bars and long swelling quillions. Urn pommel with cutwork. Spiral wood grip bound with twisted steel twisted steel wire and single Turks head.
Condition is polished in the European museum and Gewehrkammer manner with remnants of old corrosion particularly on the hilt.
This is a beautifully balanced (3 and 1/2 inches forward of the hilt) classic rapier which will please both the collector and the fencing enthusiast. A full 49 and 1/2 inches overall. Most impressive.
