A Very Fine Battle Weight One Piece Nuremberg High Comb Morion Circa 1575.
A masterpiece of the armourer’s art weighing 3 pounds, nine and 1/4 ounces, The comb with roped decoration. The brim with embossed line and finely executed roped rim. The morion decorated with 18 brass rosettes.
The interior showing the marks from the hammer, a collection or museum inventory number 646 on linen tape and retaining much original leather lining.
This morion is in untouched condition throughout retaining much original blackening. The brim clearly struck with the Nuremberg mark.
The form, condition, and quality of this helmet is exemplary, far better than the common parade weight Munich Town Guard morions usually encountered. It would be difficult to find a better morion without spending five figures. This helmet is certain to please even the sophisticated collector of armour.
