A Very Good 17th Century “Pot” Helm (Helmet) Of Morion Form With Two Piece Low Comb Skull Circa 1635.
Of fine quality, form and of good weight. 3.155 pounds. A far better than average helm and rarer than the more commonly encountered “lobster tail pot” helmet.
14 rivets decorate the skull while 16 rivets enhance the fluted brim with its rolled edge. The exterior is smooth and the interior is rough from the armorer’s hammer. The brim with armorer’s mark.
Condition rates very fine and untouched with smooth even deep even age brown patina. One minor dent. The brim with one minor loss at front. Helm even retains its original plume holder.
This beautiful nearly four century old helm is an outstanding example of this essential 17th century helm and will please any collector of Cromwellian era armour.
