This is a stunning, extremely finely wrought closed siege helmet. A makers mark is evident on the back.
This an extremely thick and heavy helmet showing the craftsmanship of the maker. Everything is period and original, circa 1575, except the visor bolt nuts on the inside, which are modern replacements.
This helmet weighs approximately 15 pounds - one of the heaviest I have seen in over 40 years for a genuine seige-weight officer's helmet.
