A Fine Pair of Highly Decorated Liege Flintlock pistols in the Empire style made for the Ottoman market with gilt bronze mounts circa 1820.
The 11 inch long fine quality round Damascus barrels octagonal at breech damascened in gold with stars and the Ottoman crescent moon. The Boutet style locks with ‘French” cocks deeply engraved with foliage. Roller bearing frizzens engraved en suite. Full bronze mounts cast and chased with strap work and foliage. Spurred buttcaps.
Figured walnut full stocks decorated with wire inlay. Condition of barrels is fine with clear Damascus pattern and wear to gilding. 60 caliber bores are excellent. Locks are crisp gray metal with excellent actions both half and full cock. Bronze mounts are crisp with strong traces of original gilding. Walnut stocks retain much original varnish with only minor losses to wire inlays.
Both pistols retain their original brass tipped ramrods with worms. Pistols are 18 and 1/2 inches overall and are a wonderful showy pair of high quality original Liege flintlock holster pistols.
