A Very Fine And Unusually Elegant Flintlock Kentucky Rifle By The Justly Renowned Jacob Albright Circa 1815.
42 and 3/4 .45 caliber rifled octagonal barrel signed in Albright’s elegant script “J Alb”.
Buckhorn rear sight. Brass partridge front sight. Muzzle with punch dot decoration. Stepped, bolted lock with sparse engraving signed “London Warranted”. Swan neck cock. Austere brass Albright brass furniture and large brass patchbox. Steel trigger with beautiful curl.
“Tiger” stripe maple full stock with detachable fore-end and wedge fasteners with the most lovely figure one could ask for. Simple but supremely elegant incise carving on fore-end. Barrel is deep even age brown with clear Albright signature.
Expected flash pitting at breech. Appears to be original flint. Hammer possibly a period replacement. The wood with fantastic striping and old hand worn patina.
The form of this Kentucky is elegance personified. Action is sticky. Deeply rifled bore is good. 57 inches overall.
This is one lovely Albright rifle.
