A Good Untouched Second Model Maynard Civil War Single Shot Percussion Carbine.
20 inch round barrel. Serial #15524. 50 caliber. In fine overall condition the barrel retains 90% soft military blue with light spotting. The frame with 25% casehardening mixing with spotting. Many screws still have some bright niter blue. Buttplate with old dried oil and light corrosion especially on top. Untouched screws with some original finish.
Stock is very fine with two very crisp military inspector’s cartouches “SWP” for Stuart W, Patch and “JM”. Stock is crisp with minor storage marks, Hammer with some color hardening. Action is excellent and bore rates excellent plus.
The 9th and 11th Union Cavalry were armed with Maynard carbines as well as the 11th Tennessee. This is a very good example of one of the more popular Civil War carbines.
