A Scarce And Totally Untouched Ballard Carbine By Ball And Williams Serial Number 3832. 22 inch barrel, 44 rimfire caliber.
This carbine is in the untouched condition known as “Attic Mint”. This is the condition one likes to see in a Confederate weapon. Ballard carbines were issued to many Union troops during the Civil War particularly seeing service with many Kentucky cavalry units including the 3rd, 6th, 8th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 45th Mounted Infantry. If this Ballard could only talk.
The metal is deep even age brown. The stocks have raised grain and one 1 and 1/2 inch tight crack on the left side near the frame. The bore is good with strong rifling and minor pitting. The action functions.
