Magnificent Solid Silver Mounted Koto Ito-no-Maki Tachi With Tokugawa Mon Throughout The Koshirae Circa 1845, The Blade Circa 1570.

The 26 and 7/8th inch shinogi tstkuri blade with original bo-hi extending through the nakago, Ko kissaki. Midare hamon, tight itame hada. The nakago is o-suriage with three mekugi ana. Full solid silver tachi mounts emblazoned throughout with Tokugawa mon on a fine nanako ground. Even the six sepia are silver. Three piece tachi tsuba ensuite as are the menuki and the ashi. The saya of fine lacquer with 16 raised hiramakie Tokugawa mon. The tsuka with white and gold decorated silk brocade.

Condition of blade is full bright polish with no kizu. One infinitesimal microchip at extreme boshi. Nakago patination is rich chocolate untouched brown. Saya is pristine mint with no damage. The quality of the horimono (bo-hi) is excellent.

This is a truly superb tachi with a seldom equaled visual and artistic impact. Condition is truly remarkable as is the quality of the koshirae. Would be extremely difficult to upgrade.
