The Shira-tsukuri blade is 13 and 3/4 inches in length, (1.15 shaku). 1 and 5/8th inches wide at ha-machi. 3/16th inches thick at mums-machi. Finely cut bo-hi. Very complex midare hamon with long ashi extending to the ha. Beautiful mokume hada. Perfect ubu nakago with 7 character Kanetane signature and one mekugi-ana. Heavy solid silver ‘cat scratched’ habaki, Fine honoki wood Japanese shira saya.
Condition of blade is in full bright sashikomi polish with no flaws. If all this was not enough to attract the most discerning collector of Shinto mei-to, this magnificent tanto has an old NBTHK ‘green’ paper attesting to its authenticity and excellence. A really lovely samurai sword. Truly a “cleaver”.
