A Rare Bukharan Kard With Morse Grip Scales In Its Original Colorful Embroidered Scabbard Circa 1835.
6 and 3/4 inch single edged ‘black Damascus’ blade Damascened in gold with Arabesque panels on both sides at forte and spine. The hilt is Damascened in gold throughout on the steel. The morse scales are pinned and decorated on the left panel with a niello silver band.
This kard retains its original Bukharan scabbard, an extremely rare and attractive survival. The scabbard even retains its original armband and tassels. The rich red, blue, and green vegetable dyed cloth shows wear and age but is remarkably complete.
The kard itself is very fine and untouched with clear “black Damask” pattern and 95% of its original gold Damascening.
A rare find for the aficionado of exotic Islamic edges weapons.
