Classic Original All Steel Scottish Ramshorn Butt Highland Officer’s Flintlock Military Belt Pistol

8 inch round barrel. 54 caliber. The barrel with no proofs denoting Highland manufacture with raised breech incorporating a rear sight and three decorative turnings. The plain lock with line engraved border. Swan neck cock ensuite. Plain steel full stock. Ball trigger and pricker. Ramshorn butt. Steel belt hook a later replacement.

Condition overall is excellent with little wear, no pitting and only minor staining. Turned and pierced ramrod possibly the original. Action is crisp on both half and full cock. Bore is good.

These Highland all steel pistols were carried throughout the Revolutionary War by Highland levees as well as British regulars who favored their rugged unbreakable stocks. Original examples such as this one are becoming almost impossible to find.
