A Highly Unusual Belgian Percussion Blunderbuss with Remarkable Elliptical “Duck’s Bill” Muzzle Nearly 3 Inches Across.
The 17 and 1/2 inch barrel of extremely fine Damascus steel of Spanish form octagonal at breech struck on top flat with “ELG” in an oval for the Belgian city of Liege. Engraved back action lock, hammer engraved ensuite. Brass trigger guard, ramrod pipe and clamshell cap box.
Checkered walnut 3/4 stock. Engraved steel buttplate. Trumpet shape ramrod with threaded end may be the original. Condition of barrel is patinated but with no pitting. Lock is dark with no pitting. Action functions properly on full and half cock. Mounts are good. Stock with no significant damage.
This is a most appealing blunderbuss with the widest muzzle we have ever encountered.
