A Very Good Iron Japanese Samurai Menpo, Possibly Myochin School Circa 1725.
The fierce facemask finely shaped with embossed facial features and well modeled attached ears (very unusual). The attached nose sculpted ensuite. The sweat running hole pierced in a blossom pattern and the “pegs” are well defined one with a crenellated border in the classic Myochin style. Gilded teeth attached to the nose. Four lame nodawa of brown lacquered steel. Flamboyant mustache is original to the menpo.
Original red lacquer interior largely intact. Nodawa lacquer with minor losses . This is a far better than average menpo and remains in largely untouched original condition throughout. 100% genuine.
