A Finely Mounted Shinto Japanese Samurai Sword, Katana With Good Horimono Of Shoki The Demon Queller Riding A Fierce Dragon Circa 1625. 26 inch long shinogi tsukuri blade.

Suriage nakago with two mekugi-ana. Tachi nine-mei Kunimitsu likely an early attribution. Finely carved horimono of Shoki on ura and three bonji on omote. Thick complex midare hamon. Masame hada. Condition of blade in almost full old likely 19th century polish with little wear to horimono. Ha with two barely noticeable microchips. No kizu visible. Nakago with fine chocolate patination. Silvered copper habaki. Good signed Choshu iron sukashi style tsuba. Gilt sepia. Tsuka with green tsuka-maki, Fine shakudo fuchi kashira with chrysanthemums frames by gold wire tendrils.

Good quality dark shakudo menuki of flowers with gold highlights. Fine almost presentation quality same. Elaborate green hiramaki lacquer saya in imitation of malachite is in good condition other than a loss near koiguchi, with gold lacquered kurikata and koiguchi. A very handsomely mounted katana with really attractive horimono.
