Fine Cased Large Adams Percussion Revolver Retailed By The Renowned John Harris Holland

This lovely large Adams has a 5 and 1/2 inch octagonal barrel and is 44 caliber. Frame marked “Adam’s Patent #24588 R”. Barrel signed in full “H. Holland 9 King Street Holborn London”.

Barrel retains 95% original bright blue. Frame retains 95% original bright charcoal bluing with minor spotting. Six shot cylinder retains 85% bright original blue with a few minor spots. Trigger with some niter blue remaining. Spur hammer is still original bright finish. Push on safety has almost all original niter blue.

Triggerguard with no finish but no wear as blue drifted. Steel buttcap patinated. Nipples are all perfect and original.

Finely checkered figured walnut butt shows almost no wear with super sharp checkering. Excellent bore and action.

Revolver is cased in its original green baize lined oak case in good overall condition inside and out. Lid escutcheon period engraved “R J W L” dated ‘1862. Accessories include a fine brass Adams .44 caliber mold. Ely’s cap box, nipple wrench and cleaning rod. Adams revolvers were a favored sidearm of both Confederate and Union officers and this one might have seen service.

John Harris Holland, founder of Holland & Holland relocated to 98 New Bond Street where they remain today. Holland marked Adams revolvers are very rare and this is an opportunity to own a lovely condition revolver associated with one of the world’s most famous gunmaker’s.
