Martial Model 1858 Remington Army Revolver
A Fine Martial Model 1858 Remington Army Revolver Serial Number 109254. 7 and 1/2 inch barrel. 44 caliber. This is a very fine example with full military inspectors stamps on barrel and frame and most importantly on the walnut grips which bear legible OWA cartouche for Orville W. Ainsworth. Condition is very fine. Barrel retains much original finish turning to brown rates 85%. Frame and cylinder retain most original blue finish rates 90%, Loading lever with fading blue. Hammer with traces of casehardening and trigger has considerable original blue. Original walnut grips rate excellent with only minor marks. Brass trigger guard with D inspector’s mark is mellow golden brass and unpolished. All screws are unmarred. Action and lock-up are tight as a new revolver. Nipples are intact. Bore is excellent. An excellent example of one of the Civil Wars finest revolvers.
