Scottish Lobe-Butt All Steel Flintlock Pistols With Unique Spring Bayonets

6 and 1/4 inch barrels in .54 caliber. The steel barrels superbly formed in the classic Scottish Highland manner with fluted octagonal swamped muzzles, beautiful relief engraving in the round central section, and finely fluted breeches with integral rear sight. The engraving is raised to the point of chiseling.

The locks with unbridled frizzens signed “Christie Perth”. Swan neck cocks with sparse engraving (worn). Frizzens are faceted in the Scottish manner. Steel fullstocks are finely engraved throughout with guilloche and heart decoration.

Triangular steel spring bayonets are 2 and 1/8 inches long. One steel ramrod is original with threaded end, the other a period replacement. Steel triggerguards are engraved with a flower. Condition of locks with wear to cock engraving and “Christie” signature. Barrels are excellent with crisp definition to all engraving.

Stocks are fine showing some honest wear. Engraved writhen belt hooks are fine and beautifully forged. Bayonets are good and spring out properly. 13 inches overall with bayonets extended, 10 and 1/2 inches overall.

As Scottish flintlock pistols these Christie’s are rare and fine but the unique spring bayonets, possibly the only examples extant, make them a Scottish weapons or oddity collector’s dream.

Actions are strong and bores are fine.
