A Very Attractive Percussion Kentucky Rifle With Signed Rifled Octagonal Barrel “L M” And Unusually Beautiful “Tiger Stripe” Maple Fullstock Circa 1835.
36 inch barrel in .36 caliber. The octagonal barrel with brass fore-sight and original buckhorn rear sight. The maker’s signature “L S’ and decorative wriggle work framing rear sight.
Bolted front action lock engraved with a pheasant at tail and stamped “Warranted”. Hammer engraved with foliage en suite with lock. Brass furniture and beautiful brass patchbox. German silver thumb piece. Finely fashioned crescent brass buttplate.
Overall condition is fine to excellent. Barrel with beautiful brown patina. Lock is clean old brown patina. Flask pitting at breech. Double set triggers work properly. Patchbox cover works perfectly.
Stock is excellent with fantastic “tiger striping” throughout and virtually no damage. This rifle has lovely form as well as a classic “Roman Nose” comb and cheekpiece with inlaid German silver crescent moon.
51 and 1/2 inches overall. Bore is excellent with crisp rifling.
