A Museum Quality Pierced And Engraved Cup Hilt Rapier Circa 1630 By Hindrich Folle “Me Fecit Solingen”.
Very fine 41 inch slender but robust rapier blade with 6 and 1/2 inch fuller signed “Hindrich Folle”. The cup finely pierced and engraved throughout with foliage and a “monster fish”. The quillons finely forged with sculpted ends. Knucklebow decorated ensuite. Simple globose pommel with cut work on top. Superb and complex original braided wire grip with “Turks Heads”.
Condition overall is untouched with no significant pitting. This sword is so original that it even retains its original linen and red thread hand guard.
This lovely rapier is truly incredible. It has never been apart or on the arms and armour market.
It balances perfectly. There are not sufficient superlatives to describe it.
