A Very Rare And Exceptionally Early Steel Inlaid Spanish Miquelet Lock Belt Pistol Circa 1650.
6 and 1/8th inch plain octagonal barrel, .50 caliber. Superbly executed patella lock with beautiful filed frizzen shoe and cock retaining plate. Lock screws finely engraved. The frizzen with removable deeply grooved striking face plate. Elegantly triple pierced steel barrel band. Steel triggerguard with long chiseled rear and finely pierced trigger plate.
Mid 17th century Spanish style walnut fullstock with pierced steel inlays in fore-end. Very early Ripoll Catalan style butt with superbly pierced fretwork inlay. The original long steel belt hook compliments one of the rarest and most sought after Spanish miquelet pistols. You will search long and hard to find another one half as fine as this example.
