A Good Pair Of Napoleonic Era English Flintlock Officer’s Pistols By William Bond (59 Lombard Street, London) Circa 1814.
8 and 1/2 inch round barrel with top flat. .65 caliber musket bore. The barrels with full W. Bond Lombard Street London address. Platinum band at breech. Silver fore-sights. Blued rear sights with finely engraved breech tangs. Stirrup rammers. Finely made bolted locks with push on safeties, sawtooth border engraving signed “W. Bond”. Waterproof pans, roller bearing frizzens. One cock replaced. Engraved steel triggerguards with pineapple finials.
Figured walnut full stocks with dark horn fore-ends, finely checkered wrists. Rectangular silver thumb pieces. Finely engraved side nails. The barrels cleaned to bright metal. Locks are crisp with little wear. Stocks are excellent with little wear to the fine checkering.
Bores are good and actions on both pistols are crisp on both half and full cock. 14 inches overall. A handsome pair that would have been the prize possession of an English officer.
