A Very Scarce And Desirable U.S. Model 1832 General And Staff Officers Sword.
A ’sturdy and handsome sword for general officers and their staffs (Peterson, THE AMERICAN SWORD 1775-1945, page 126 illustrated figure 113). 31 and 1/2 inch double edged blade with long narrow central fuller extending nearly to the point. Etching worn but Ames logo faint but visible on left side. Right side with “US” a wreath, urn and scroll very faint.
Wood grip covered with a sheathing of ribbed silver. Boat style hilt with D-guard and beaded design. Hilt condition is excellent.
A seldom seen early issued United States military sword used by generals and their staffs.
