A Truly Splendid Condition Cased Set Of French Percussion Dueling Pistols Signed Gastinne Renette Circa 1860 With All Accessories.

10 inch fluted octagonal barrels. 45 caliber. The barrels are simply magnificent and retain nearly 100% of the bright original blue signed “Gastinne Renette Paris”. Partridge front sight. Bright case colored breeches and ultra finely engraved breech tangs. Bright niter blued rear sights. Extremely fine stepped and bolted locks with nearly 100% bright casehardening.

Sculpted finely engraved hammers, blued nipples. Engraved single side nail side plates. Spurred trigger guards are engraved with scrolls and retain 100% ultra bright ‘peacock’ bluing. Skull crusher butts are superbly engraved and display 100% bright casehardening with extreme vividly.

Highly figured walnut full stocks are finely checkered in concert with the excellence of these dwellers overall. The condition is exemplary and can rightly be called mint. The actions are as new as are bores and are unfired throughout. The dwellers are cased in their lovely oak case with green baize lining gilt stamped in the lid “GASTINNE RENETTE PARIS”.

Accessories are equally excellent comprising bullet box, cap box, bullet mold. turnscrew, nipple wrench, powder dipper, and a superb ebony mallet without the usual dents from use as a hammer. Set includes two rosewood cleaning rods. The case rates excellent with original key and leather carrying strap.

For quality and condition this set would be almost impossible to improve upon. Gastinne Renette owned the finest shooting gallery in Paris during the mid to late 19th century and on into the early 20th.
