A Fine And Extremely Rare And Desirable All Original Late 15th Century Rondel Dagger.
Stout 9 and 3/4 inch slightly hollow diamond section double edged blade flattened on each side at the forte. Iron hilt with finely chiseled outer ring guard formed as a pair of finely chiseled open jawed scaly serpents. Spirally mounted ferrule and oversized mushroom shape pommel cap.
Period replaced waisted exotic wood grip. Iron parts with some pitting which is more than acceptable given that most surviving rondel daggers of the 15th century are excavated. Original decorated rondel daggers are very rarely available to the American collector.
