Excellent Cased Colt 1851 London Navy Revolver Serial Number 31925 For 1855

A Very Fine Cased Colt 1851 London Navy Revolver Serial Number 31XXX For 1855.

7 and 1/2 inch octagonal barrel. .36 caliber. An extremely fine example. The barrel with 90%+ bright original blue with one area on the left flat with five areas of very minor pinprick corrosion. The forcing cone with 98% of its original bright bluing. The cylinder with excellent naval engagement scene and incredibly all six safety pins are present and retains 98% of a more pasty blue than the barrel.

Loading lever with 95% original casehardening colors. The frame with 95% casehardening with some real vivid colors on both sides more than is usually seen on fine London Navy's. The hammer with 75% casehardening. Backstrap exhibits mostly grey steel with some blue on the butt. Triggerguard shows some bright blue on the bow.

Highly figured walnut grip retains nearly all its glossy piano varnish finish. All numbers match including the wedge. Bore is like a mirror and rated excellent++. The action is excellent.

This is a far above average fine London Navy with perfect unmarred screws. London Colts in general are more finely finished and better made than their Hartford cousins. This lovely London is cased in an original London oak case with fading red wine color lining, original ball grip London cleaning rod, screwdriver, Colt’s Patent 36 caliber mold retaining 95% original bluing with perfect cavities, a rare Eley Bros 500 percussion cap tin, and most significantly a rare Dixon bag flask stamped “COLT’S NAVY FLASK” retaining 70% bright gilding on the spout, nearly all the bright blue on the spring, 95% of the finish on the flask body and several minor dents.
