An Extremely Rare And Fine Hira Tsukuri Koto Tanto Signed Soshu ju Tsunahiro, Sagami Province, Circa 1575.
8 and 1/2 inch blade. Classic Sagami Tsunahiro choji temper becoming true hitatsura with islands of tobiyaki. Itame hada. The blade with two short hi. Classic Soshu Tsunahiro ‘fish belly’ shape nakago with two mekugi-ana. The hi extending into the nakago.
Four character Soshu Tsunahiro signature. Nakago with excellent late Koto patina.
This lovely and important tanto is in full bright fresh polish and with the exception of a few minor ware the condition is superb. Examples of this master swordsmith’s work are rarely offered in the United States. Do not miss this opportunity.
