A Rare American Revolutionary War Period English Officers Sword Of Exemplary Quality Circa 1778.
26 and 1/4 inch blade with 20 and 3/4 inch single fuller. Blade is unmarked with flat spine and in bright polished condition. Extremely fine D-guard steel hilt with triple branch half basket decorated with diamond pattern facets and finely filed roped designs. Single quillon with diamond facets ensuite. Beautiful spirally fluted green stained bone grip in excellent condition retaining nearly all its lovely green color.
The hilt brightly polished in excellent condition throughout. The ovoid pommel filed with diamond facets ensuite with the hilt. Further enhanced with solid faceted “Turk’s Heads” securing the grip.
Still razor sharp. 32 and 3/4 inches overall. An extremely attractive sword doubtless carried by a proud British officer during the period of the American Revolution.
