A Fine And Rare Sino-Tibetan Short Sword In Steel And Silver Circa 1825.
12 and 3/8th inch blade exhibiting beautiful and distinct “maiden hair” Damascus pattern in very fine original condition, simple copper collar. Silver hilt with grip wrapped in twisted silver wire with beautiful engraved silver pommel and silver guard ensuite.
Original scabbard with relief cast and chased 4 inch locket decorated with leaves and foliage and a demonic beast’s head. 10 inch long decorative silver panel cast and chased in relief with two sytylized dragons facing each other within the characteristic Sino-Tibetan patinated iron scabbard enclosure chiseled in low relief with Sino-Tibetan fretwork all of fine quality.
These rare swords are increasingly desirable as originals are not only rare but important Asian works of art. 20 and 1/2 inches overall in scabbard.
