A Classic Percussion Poorboy Kentucky Type Rifle circa 1850 from the JM Davis Museum.
This weapon has a 39 3/4 inch octagonal rifled barrel with a .45 caliber bore with fair rifling. The barrel is unmarked. The lock retains traces of original engraving; the two tang screws and ramrod are replacements. The double set triggers and action functions.
The wood is in good condition with a few minor marks and bruises. There is a small replaced wood piece on the right side of barrel tang. The weapon has simple brass mounts including the butt plate, trigger guard, and three ramrod pipes. There are German silver wedged escutcheons.
This is a very good example of the classic Poorboy type Kentucky rifle with provenance from one of America's most famous gun museums.
