Winchester Model 1866 Brass Frame Lever Action Rifle

A Good 1866 Winchester “Yellow Boy” Saddle Ring Carbine Serial Number 77124 For 1871.

20 inch round barrel. Caliber .44 rimfire. The barrel with smooth even patina and partial Winchester address visible. Magazine tube patina matches the barrel. Rear sight replaced with a simple buckhorn. Hammer and lever match barrel and magazine tube. Brass frame with old polish now toning nicely. Buttplate is good.

Buttstock sanded and slightly undersized at buttplate and frame but has a pleasant color. Saddle ring present. Buttstock with non matching number in channel but original period 1866 wood. Walnut fore-end fits well with minor longitudinal crack on left side.

Bore is good with clear lands and grooves. Lever action works well with both half and full cock. A better than average example of the highly sought after Winchester “Yellow Boy” for a reasonable price.
