A Very Fine Quality Late 16th Century German Black And White Open Burgonet Circa 1590.

A true classic piece weighing 3.6 pounds. The two piece skull with medium high comb nicely roped at apex. Alternating bright and black panels mark this helmet as fit for a really good black and white half or three quarter suit. Lovely rope bordered brim.

Condition is excellent overall with both its original earflaps (rare!) embossed with relief panel pierced and engraved. Original neck lame roped and entirely ensuite. Lovely six point beats rivets decorate all components with none missing or replaced (rare!). Incredibly, this burgonet even retains its original leather chinstrap with forged iron buckle. Interior is deep even age patina with remnants of leather lining at rear.

Altogether one of the most attractive black and white burgonets one might wish for. Upgrade the helmet on your suit or simply enjoy it on an appropriate stand.
