A Scarce Civil War Era Benjamin F. Joslyn Army Revolver. .44 caliber.
The original 8 inch barrel professionally period reduced to 5 and 1/2 inches. With its side hammer and solid frame, limited production of 3000 and early manufacture from 1861-1862, the Joslyn is one of the scarcer and more interesting Civil War period army revolvers.
This example features no serial numbers and the brass triggerguard of the first Model. Old blue refinish overall with faded markings but good edges and no pitting. This is a full dimension revolver with barrel reduced 2 and 1/2 inches from standard.
Silver blade front sight. Good grips with typical Joslyn coarse checkering and one repaired chip at butt of left panel. Steel grip escutcheons replaced with brass and one grip screw is replaced. Action indexes and cocks. Bore is excellent.
A interesting Joslyn that doubtless was carried west following the Civil War.
