A Fine And Rare English Short Saber Circa 1775-1785 In Its Original Leather Scabbard.

24 inch saber blade with narrow fuller near the spine and a broad central fuller extending through the point. This splendid blade retains nearly all of its original mirror bright polish after more than two centuries. The well forged pierced steel hilt is adorned with a finely filed crown and cross. Waisted, reeded horn grip remains in excellent condition. Globose steel pommel. Struck at forte with maker’s initials “W B” unknown. The pierced knuckle guard depicting a cross hilt sword with a flamberge blade.

This remarkable survival retains its original leather scabbard with original chape and the locket with carrying ring and frog stud. Closely resembles 145.5 on page 110 in Swords & Blades of the American Revolution by George C. Neumann.

For the discerning Rev War collector who demands quality, originality, and above all condition.
