A Fine Civil War Fully Inspected U.S. Martial Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver Serial Number 123882 For 1863 All Matching Serial Numbers Including Wedge.
8 inch round barrel, .44 caliber. A really fine example of the most popular Civil War Army revolver. The barrel with 45%+ original blue finish (some vendors would rate the percentage at 70% or even higher) with slight muzzle wear from being holstered. Loading lever with no wear and traces of casehardening. Wedge with 50% original finish. Bore is fine to excellent. The cylinder with perfect scene and 75% fading original blue.
Three pin safeties are intact, The frame with little or no wear and darkened casehardening. The hammer with some color casehardening on the right flat. The backstrap retains 60% bright bluing especially on the saddle and butt. Brass triggerguard is crisp and unmarred. The original walnut drips rate fine with one large shallow mark on left and very minor wear to extreme of butt. Trigger with considerable original blue.
Partially legible original martial inspectors cartouche. The action and lock-up on this fine 1860 Army is as crisp and tight as it was in 1863. A superior example of this important American martial revolver and priced to sell. No surprises with serial number 123882.
